By car
I-287 is the township’s principal regional highway. Route 18 provides direct access toward New Brunswick and Rutgers.
By rail
No NJ TRANSIT passenger rail station sits inside Piscataway. Edison and New Brunswick on the Northeast Corridor and Dunellen on the Raritan Valley Line are common nearby options.
Rutgers events
Football, basketball and major campus events can change traffic and parking patterns significantly. Check Rutgers Athletics parking and shuttle instructions before event days.
Visitor tip
Piscataway is spread out. A Rutgers/riverfront visit and a Centennial Avenue/I-287 hotel stay can be several miles apart, so driving or rideshare is usually more practical than treating the township as a walkable destination.
